Emma Crossley and Rhys Matthews are both graduates of the Royal Northern College of Music, achieving first class honours degrees in 2009, before completing a Master of Music with distinction in 2010.
Kudos Percussion Duo was formed in 2009 at the Royal Northern College of Music, during which time they performed in RNCM Percussion Ensemble concerts and represented the RNCM in their Spotlight series.
Kudos have performed extensively across the country to great public acclaim, with their sound being described as ‘fascinating and original’. Over the last three years they have performed for Swaledale and Hexham Music festivals and the Oundle International Festival as well as many concert series including Warwick, Dolgellau, Rhyl and the Liverpool Philharmonic Society to name a few. Engagements later this season include Alwinton and Shipston concert series.
Rhys and Emma are both keen educators and have been members of the prestigious Live Music Now scheme since 2010, through which they have given a large number of concerts and workshops at special needs schools across the country as well as working at adult education centres, they have also worked extensively in mainstream schools.
Kudos Percussion Duo perform a vast array of repertoire ranging from the classical period to more contemporary percussion repertoire, focusing mainly on the sound world of the marimba interspersed with a wide range of percussion.
